Overview
Andhra Pravasi embraces useful technology while preserving human editorial accountability. This AI Content Policy explains how we use artificial intelligence tools in our newsroom, what we do not use AI for, and how we disclose AI-assisted work to readers.
This policy applies to all Andhra Pravasi platforms: andhrapravasi.com, mobile apps, newsletters, social channels, and video productions.
Permitted Uses
Our journalists and editors may use AI tools to assist with:
- Transcription: Converting interviews and press conferences from audio/video to text, always reviewed by a human editor.
- Translation drafts: First-pass Telugu ↔ English translation, fully edited by bilingual staff before publication.
- Research summaries: Organising public documents, datasets, or long reports—never treated as verified fact without source checks.
- Headline suggestions: Proposed options that must be approved by an editor; we never publish AI-generated headlines without review.
- SEO metadata: Draft meta descriptions and social captions, edited for accuracy and tone.
- Accessibility: Alt-text suggestions for images, verified by the photo desk or assigning editor.
Prohibited Uses
We do not use AI to:
- Generate fabricated quotes, sources, statistics, or events
- Publish fully automated news articles without human review and approval
- Create deepfake images, video, or audio of real people
- Impersonate journalists, public figures, or readers
- Produce opinion pieces attributed to named authors without their direct involvement
- Scrape or republish third-party content at scale
Human Oversight
Every article published on Andhra Pravasi is approved by a human editor who is accountable for its accuracy, fairness, and compliance with our Editorial Policy. AI tools are assistants, not authors.
Editors are trained to recognise AI hallucinations, biased outputs, and outdated training data. When AI output cannot be verified, it is discarded.
Reader Disclosure
When AI materially assists in producing a story—for example, generating a data visualisation script or a large-scale document analysis—we disclose this in the article where appropriate.
We do not label routine spell-checking, grammar tools, or standard transcription as AI-assisted. We do label synthetic media (AI-generated illustrations) clearly as such and never present them as photographs of real events.
Images & Video
News photographs and videos must reflect real events. AI-generated or AI-altered images used for editorial purposes are watermarked or captioned to indicate they are illustrative, not documentary evidence.
Stock and archive images are labeled when they are not from the event described. See our photo desk guidelines for syndicated and agency content.
Data & Privacy
We do not feed unpublished source material, confidential tips, or reader personal data into public AI services without anonymisation and editorial approval. Internal tools comply with our Privacy Policy.
Questions & Feedback
If you have concerns about AI use in our coverage, contact editorial@andhrapravasi.com with the article URL and your question. We review all feedback and update this policy as technology and standards evolve.
